JCI Bauchi City Collaborates with JCI Abuja Unity and JCI Diwan (Tunisia) to Celebrate 2025 World Day for Cultural Diversity

Junior Chamber International (JCI) Bauchi City, in collaboration with JCI Abuja Unity and JCI Diwan, Tunisia, hosted an inspiring virtual event on May 21, 2025, to mark the 2025 World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. Held under the theme “Celebrating Diversity: Bridging Cultures for a Unified Future,” the event brought together over 40 JCI members and guests from Nigeria and Tunisia for a vibrant cross-cultural exchange.

The gathering highlighted the power of global collaboration, with participants commending the initiative for fostering mutual understanding and promoting global citizenship among young active leaders. Strengthening ties between Africa and the Arab world, the event served as a model for inter-chapter partnerships within the JCI network.

Two dynamic guest speakers—Ons Gargouri from Tunisia and Adebimpe Showunmi from Nigeria—offered rich perspectives on culture, leadership, and inclusion.

Speaking on the role of culture in unifying communities, Ons Gargouri said, “Cultural diversity is not a barrier but a bridge. When we understand each other’s stories, we are better positioned to lead with empathy and shape inclusive societies.”

Adebimpe Showunmi emphasized the connection between culture and purpose-driven leadership: “Our differences are not limitations—they are unique assets. When young leaders embrace diversity, they unlock the power to build solutions that reflect all voices.”

Through insightful presentations and an interactive Q&A session, the event explored how identity, inclusion, and intercultural empathy can elevate leadership, community development, and peacebuilding.

Participants stressed that diversity should be viewed as a strength and a catalyst for sustainable development. The event promoted the idea that cultural intelligence is essential in building inclusive communities and driving global cooperation.

JCI Bauchi City reaffirmed its commitment to advancing intercultural dialogue and promoting diversity as a force for peace and unity. The event was widely applauded for its relevance, human-centered approach, and its ability to connect minds across borders.

As JCI continues to drive global impact through local action, this collaboration stands as a shining example of the organization’s mission to develop leaders for a changing world—where diversity is not only celebrated but transformed into lasting impact.
