JCI Bauchi City and Aid Connect for Development Champion Women’s Empowerment on International Women’s Day 2025

JCI Bauchi City, in collaboration with Aid Connect for Development (AIDCODE), hosted a transformative event on 8th March 2025 to celebrate International Women’s Day 2025 under the theme: “Accelerating Action to Elevate Women’s Empowerment and Transform Communities.” The event provided a platform for meaningful dialogue on gender equality, mental health, and economic opportunities for women, highlighting the critical role of women in driving sustainable community development.

The gathering brought together gender advocates, development partners, and thought leaders who discussed the challenges hindering women’s progress and explored solutions for equal opportunities in leadership, education, and economic growth. In his address, JCI Bauchi City President, Akintunde Tajudeen Taiwo, emphasized the significant role women play in society. “Women are changemakers and leaders whose contributions must be acknowledged. We must continue creating opportunities for them to thrive,” he stated, citing inspiring figures like Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Aisha Yesufu.

A key highlight was a panel discussion on women’s mental health, featuring Haj. Saadatu Muhammad Usman, Haj. Zuwaira Baba, and Mrs. Abigail Hardo Adegoke. The panelists highlighted the impact of societal expectations, gender-based violence, and limited mental health access, calling for open conversations and professional support.

Discussions also covered gender inclusion, education, and media representation. Panelists stressed the need for advocacy campaigns that engage traditional and religious leaders in promoting gender equality. As the event concluded, speakers, including Mr. Edward Udosen and JCI Amb. Felix Sunday Akinyemi, 2025 JCI Aso President, reaffirmed their commitment to empowering women.

With collective commitment and strategic action, JCI Bauchi City and Aid Connect for Development continue driving change for women’s empowerment and community transformation.
