RECTOR, FPTB HONOURED AS JCI HUMAN DUTIES AMBASSADOR, SIGNS MoU TO REVITALIZE JCIN FPTB COLLEGIATE CHAPTER
In
a momentous occasion that marks a new chapter in youth empowerment and
institutional collaboration, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi,
Alhaji Sani Usman, was officially conferred with the prestigious Human Duties
Ambassador Award by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Nigeria, through its
local chapter, JCI Bauchi City.
The
award, presented by Akintunde Tajudeen Taiwo, the 2025 President of JCI Bauchi
City, recognized the Rector’s unwavering commitment to humanity, education, and
transformative leadership. It celebrates individuals who exemplify public
service, advocacy, philanthropy, youth development, and community advancement —
all values Alhaji Usman has consistently championed throughout his career.
The
recognition coincided with the official signing of a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) between JCI Bauchi City and Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi for
the revitalization of JCIN Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi Collegiate Local
Organization (JCIN FPTB) — the student leadership arm of JCI within the
institution. The MoU sets the framework for reactivating the chapter, which had
been dormant for several years, and aims to empower students through structured
leadership training, entrepreneurship development, community engagement, and
global exposure.
The
symbolic ceremony, held on Friday, 4th July, 2025, at the Rector’s
Office within the Polytechnic, brought together key stakeholders from both JCI
and the Polytechnic community.
Speaking
during the event, Akintunde Tajudeen Taiwo stated:
“This
partnership marks a significant milestone in our efforts to build a future
where young people are empowered to lead with purpose and make lasting impacts
in their communities. We are proud to recognize the Rector as a Human Duties
Ambassador whose life and leadership have embodied the core principles of
service to humanity, dignity, and sustainability.”
Also
speaking at the event, Hassan Alhaji Hassan, mnipr, a seasoned
communication strategist and Patron of JCIN FPTB, who also signed the MoU as a
witness, commended the Polytechnic’s leadership for their openness to youth
engagement and pledged ongoing support from JCI Nigeria:
“On
behalf of JCI Nigeria, I want to assure the management of this institution that
this revitalization effort is not just a formality, but a strategic step toward
nurturing future leaders. The national body stands firmly behind this
partnership and is ready to provide technical, moral, and operational support
to ensure JCIN FPTB thrives as a hub for student leadership and innovation.”
Speaking
on behalf of the Polytechnic management, Alhaji Mohammed Rabiu Wada, mnipr,
Director of Public Relations, expressed appreciation to JCI for the honour
bestowed on the Rector and the collaborative efforts to reawaken student
engagement:
“We
sincerely thank JCI for this noble recognition and for choosing Federal
Polytechnic, Bauchi, as a platform to groom the next generation of leaders. The
school management welcomes this MoU as a timely intervention and will continue
to support JCIN activities in alignment with our institutional goals.”
The MoU outlines a two-year renewable partnership where JCI Bauchi City will provide mentorship, leadership training, and resources, while Federal Polytechnic Bauchi will create an enabling environment for the collegiate organization to thrive within campus regulations.
Also
present at the ceremony was Alhaji Kasimu Salihu, Registrar of the Polytechnic,
who also signed the MoU as a witness and reiterated the institution's support
toward youth development initiatives.
This
revitalization is part of JCI Bauchi City’s broader vision to foster
sustainable leadership within tertiary institutions, ensure continuous talent
development, and maintain a steady pipeline of socially responsible leaders.
As
the world prepares to mark International Human Duties Day on July 10th, this
milestone in Bauchi reinforces the message that leadership, service, and
humanity are timeless values worth celebrating and nurturing.
